The new Acer XDS React Fairway wood heads hit as well as they look! Shallow face design components have been popular ever since the Adams Tight Lies were introduced years ago, and these new React fairway wood heads inject 21st century technology!
The railed sole design helps to minimize ‘fat’ contact with the ground for optimal launch condition. The XDS React Fairway component head is also weighted internally so as to optimize launch and spin conditions. They also feature VFT (variable face thickness) for increased forgiveness on an imperfect ball strike.
The Reacts comes in 2 lofts to cover most long fairway wood shots: A 15 degree "normal" 3 wood head, and a 18 degree "Machete" head, which can be built to a shorter standard length than the loft would suggest. The Machete head is the weight of a 7 wood head, but of course the loft you'd typically find on a 4 or 5 wood. Bottom line is that on the Machete, the golfer can expect the distance of a normal 5 wood and because of the shorter club length (we suggest 41 inches for men and 40 inches for women), his control should be better than he has with a current 5 wood. A great idea for a "control" 5 wood from Acer!
