Star Golf Grips
ARC, the company better known now as Star Grips, first got started manufacturing golf grips in 1989 when it was awarded a contract by a large golf grip company to develop a high quality rubber wrap-style grip that looked and felt similar to a leather grip. The new grip they developed revolutionized the grip industry and was hawked by a now legendary PGA Tour pro. After several successful years of domestic production, sadly the grip company moved production overseas to cut production costs. In a span of just a few short years, the brand had lost its market relevance.
Shortly after these events, Jim Jennett, President of Star, started getting calls from customers asking where they could buy a grip comparable to the one originally made in the US. PGA Pros, Golf Club makers, and others were all requesting a quality grip that was made in the US. To meet this demand, ARC developed its own proprietary grip and the Star Grip® brand was introduced in 2001.
Over the years, Star has perfected a unique method of manufacturing grips they call “Seamless True Round Molding”. The nature of the grip design guarantees both excellent quality and near-perfect consistency in production.
The grips are made from a more expensive industrial grade EPDM elastomer, but the margins are kept low to give the consumer great value. All the grips are made here in the U.S.A at their factory in Arizona. Competitor’s grips get slick over time as a result of moisture, salt, and U.V. exposure. But the material in Star Grip® grips is backed by a guarantee that it won't get hard or slick, crack, or split.
