Harrison Shotmaker

The Harrison Shotmaker is the biggest innovation to come along in golf in a LONG time. What the heck is it? To put it simply, it is a removable insert that is made of ultra thin ply graphite that 'stabilizes' a graphite golf shaft. It is about 12 inches long and weighs only 4 grams. The most 'unstable' section of a golf shaft is the tip section. When a golf ball is struck, especially incorrectly, the tip of a graphite shaft vibrates violently and 'deforms'. When a Shotmaker is installed, it significantly stabilizes the shaft, and this results in greater accuracy up to a whopping 40%!

If real world experience is not enough to convince you, Harrison has done robotic testing at the Golf Lab in Carlsbad, CA to prove it. What is the Golf Lab? Basically the only place in the world where golf club innovation is truly tested, without bias, by means of robotics. With the shotmaker installed: When the robot swung at 90 MPH, it improved accuracy by 28%. When the robot swung at 100 MPH, the accuracy improved a whopping 56%! What more can be said?

Which insert is for you? Please see the chart below to choose. The main components are swing speed and 'load factor'. If you don't know what 'load factor' is – think of it this way: Smooth swing and tempo – low to mid load factor. Hard swing and tempo – mid to high load factor. For example, Ernie Els would be low to mid load. They don't call him the Big Easy for nothing. Now Sergio Garcia, he really goes after the ball – he has a high load. You will have to determine what kind of swing you have.

What is included in this kit for $139.99? The shotmaker insert, a nice torque installation tool, a 4 gram grip cap lock, and an instruction sheet.

How do you install? It's probably best to watch this video which can show you how easy it is. You have 2 choices: 1) take your old grip off, install the insert, and install a new grip. If you do this, you will be adding 4 grams to the tip end (not that big a deal). 2) Buy the optional grip cap cutter for $10, use it to cut a hole in your current grip, install the insert, and cap it with the included grip cap lock. The grip cap lock is also 4 grams, so the balance of your club will be the same as it was before installation.
