As the backbone of your golfing arsenal, no bag is complete without a solid set of irons. At ValueGolf.com, we have both single- and multi-length iron heads to choose from. And because you will likely use an iron on every hole you play it’s good to have a set of about six to eight irons, including the pitching wedge (PW). Gap (AW or GW), sand (SW), and lob (LW) wedges are available in certain brands as well.

Your longer, low-lofted 3 to 6 irons will make the ball fly further, but with a lower trajectory. On the other hand, the shorter, high-lofted 7 to PW irons are good for when you’re closer to the green: they’ll fly higher, but with less distance.

A sand wedge in your iron set is important for any player, but it’s especially useful for golfers just starting out. Lob wedges, meanwhile, are the best club to use when you need the highest possible trajectory coupled with a soft landing. And don’t forget the gap wedge, also known as an approach wedge (GW or AW). A gap wedge is the transitional club that fills in the distance void between your PW and SW.

In short, the right set of irons can mean the difference between glory or utter frustration on the course. If you want to examine more specs, go to the Technical Specifications tab on the page for that iron head. We also offer a variety of hybrid heads here, as well as driver heads, fairway wood heads, wedges, and putters.
