I purchased the gap and sand wedge. I now have no "conventional" irons left in my bag. These heads are more forgiving than any irons I've ever played. There is no requirement to set up differently for sand shots. Just set up square to the ball and swing. The heads are high quality and I'd recommend them for golfers of all skill levels. Since switching to all "hybrid" irons my handicap has dropped from 13 to 8 over the past year. Based on my shot tracking virtually all of the change is due to more consistent iron play.

During last season, league play, I shanked 10-15 shots over 30 rounds, with my Golfsmith cavity-back irons, which I made 25 years ago. This embarrassment was more than I could bear, so I pulled the trigger on these heads, which have no shank to hit. Coupled with some nice A-flex shafts and top quality Wingrips, I have an excellent set of hybrid irons now. I have not (yet) shanked a single shot this season - mission accomplished.
The surprising qualities of this set are (1) I am hitting them 5-15% farther than the irons they replaced, and (2) my accuracy (aside from the lack of shanks) has improved.
I am an old f*rt, and hit this new 5h up to 160 off the tee and average 145 off the fairway.

I have a few of these, they hit well. The one I just order I haven't put together and used yet but I thought I'd leave a review of the buying process.
I received the iron wood version instead of the xds version, emailed them about the problem and they quickly threw the right one in the mail with a return label to put on the box with the old one which I just had to leave in my mail box.
We all make mistakes, I was impressed with how quickly they resolved the problem.

I had difficulty playing with irons - with senior shafts or regular shafts. Acer hybrid heads with Kurokage regular shafts and Winn jumbo hi tec grips are just perfect. Know you club hitting distance, select your club and off you go.

I bought the Acer XDS 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 hybrids to go with my cavity 8-SW, and LW. I have no problem with cavity-backs from 8 down, but my mid and long irons usually are not reliable. These hybrids give me confidence now on full swings, and I use the 7H around the green when I need some finesse rollout. I have used Value golf for club building many times. Highly recommend.
